Fundraising: Junior Variety
![]() ![]() |
Jr. Variety is a new generation of youth committed to fundraising for Variety – The Children’s Charity, a non–profit organization dedicated to inspiring hope, enriching lives and building a better future for the children of Southern California. The Jr. Variety board is made up of high school aged teenagers from different schools who are making a positive impact by hosting fundraising events and participating in volunteering opportunities that families can support and enjoy together. Jr. Variety has been created to draw teens and young adults into philanthropic work; helping children who are disabled, abused, physically challenged, and/or underprivileged. Jr. Variety raises awareness among teenagers about the importance of giving back to their local communities and making a difference in the lives of children less fortunate. |

Congratulations to Jr. Variety President Jeremy Forman
Variety the Children’s Charity of Southern CA and Jr. Variety is thrilled to announce that Jeremy Forman, President of Jr. Variety, has been named the 2009 OUTSTANDING YOUTH VOLUNTEER by the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. This prestigious honor is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills in coordinating and motivating groups of volunteers for fundraising projects for the benefit of charitable institutions and a commitment to the advancement of philanthropy. Jeremy was selected as the winner in this category from a large pool of candidates - and we all congratulate him on this well deserved honor!
Jeremy will be presented with his award at the 24th Annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon celebration at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Monday November 9th. National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) is the day set aside by Congress to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy in our country and those people active in the philanthropic community.
Jeremy began his volunteer work at the age of ten when he would pass out candy and toys to the children of the Variety Boys & Girls Club in Boyle Heights at their Halloween and Holiday parties. At age eleven he became involved with VIP baseball so that he could help mentally and physically challenged kids experience the joys of baseball. In 2007 at age 14, Jeremy and his father, Scott, created Jr. Variety as the junior organization to its parent, Variety - The Children’s Charity of Southern California. Jr. Variety raises awareness among teenagers about the importance of giving back to their local communities by creating fundraising events and volunteering in activities to make a difference in the lives of children less fortunate. Jeremy and his 13 fellow board members of Jr. Variety have created and organized events which have fundraised over $150,000 for Variety the Children’s Charity. In addition, the board has spent countless hours volunteering at organizations throughout Southern California dedicated to helping special needs and underprivileged children.
All of us at Variety salute Jeremy, as well as the entire Board of Jr. Variety and its Advisory Board, as he receives this outstanding honor from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. We look forward to sharing in many more successes and accomplishments with Jeremy and Jr. Variety. Congratulations Jeremy!
