– Autographed Kit Kittredge: An American Girl official movie poster and premiere tickets to the latest film starring Kevin Costner, Swing Vote, also on auction!–

Hollywood, CA — July 2, 2008 — Fans of the immensely popular American Girl brand, which includes books, dolls and a magazine, now have the chance to own one-of-a-kind pieces of American Girl’s very first major theatrical endeavor. A Kit Kittredge American Girl doll autographed by Abigail Breslin, who portrays Kit® in the film, and the actual costume worn in the film by the character Ruthie who plays Kit’s best friend are up for auction. Fans also have the chance to bid on an official movie poster autographed by Abigail Breslin. Proceeds from the auctions at http://stores.ebay.com/Variety-The-Childrens-Charity will benefit Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California. The auction will end on July 7th.

Abigail Breslin portrays Kit® in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, a nine-year-old girl growing up during the Great Depression. Inspired by the Kit Kittredge American Girl doll and her companion book Meet Kit, the story of this clever girl growing up in 1934 Cincinnati, the new film offers lessons about choices and friendship that still touch girls today.

“Picturehouse has been so generous with this exciting donation,” said Mary Nakagawa-Marti, President of Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California. “Children have the opportunity to learn so much about history and life’s lessons with American Girl. We’re thrilled that fans have the chance to enjoy these amazing items as they contribute to the charity.”

In addition to the autographed Kit Kittredge items, movie lovers will have the opportunity to bid on a pair of tickets to the World Premiere of “Swing Vote,” starring Kevin Costner, Paula Patton, Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Hopper, George Lopez, Willie Nelson, Mare Winningham, Richard Petty and newcomer Madeline Carroll. The highly-anticipated Touchstone Pictures’ film will be released in theatres August 1.

Since its launch in November 2005, http://stores.ebay.com/Variety-The-Childrens-Charity has raised over $850,000 by auctioning off pieces of Hollywood memorabilia, including tickets to the world premiere and after party of “Hannah Montana & Miley Cirus: Best of Both Worlds” concert movie, a car used in the filming of “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” shirts worn by the stars of “Brokeback Mountain,” and signed movie memorabilia.
