Celebrating its 70th anniversary, Variety–The Children’s Charity of Southern California was founded in 1941 as a nonprofit organization with the express mission to provide life-saving and life-enriching assistance to children with special needs. Last year, in addition to its commitment to the capital campaign fund for a new Variety Boys and Girls Club in Boyle Heights, Variety distributed 65 grants, totaling more than half a million dollars to local organizations who serve children in Southern California.

Variety comes to the aid of children in the community funding literacy programs, programs for homeless teens, after school activities for kids in foster care and therapy for kids with autism, brain injuries and other disabilities. Variety’s own “Mobility Program” helps physically-challenged kids gain mobility, confidence and freedom by providing walkers, wheelchairs, therapeutic strollers and specially-designed adaptive bikes to families with the most need.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with some of Hollywood most prominent entertainment partners” said Alan Davy, President of Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California. It’s a marvelous new opportunity for our charity to reach awareness and funds for a great cause…children in need”
