About the Campaign

Since 1991, the Gold Heart Pin Campaign has been Variety’s signature fundraising endeavor. Variety works with one major motion picture studio every year, including Lionsgate, Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture, Sony, Paramount, Warner Bros., and Universal Pictures to design a pin based on a film or character. 

This year, Variety has partnered with Universal Pictures to create two limited-edition gold heart pins featuring characters Glinda and Elphaba from the spectacular new cinematic event, WICKED, in theatres nationwide on November 22, 2024! The iconic Variety Gold Heart Pin is one of Variety’s most recognized and successful fundraising initiatives, with early pins becoming sought-after collector’s items.

Wicked actress Marissa Bode, is the first wheelchair user to portray Nessarose.  Variety of Wisconsin granted a vehicle modification to Marissa’s family back in 2013 shortly after Marissa became paralyzed from the waist down.  We are so proud of Marissa and grateful that Variety was able to help when they needed it thanks YOU and your support. ❤

Available through retail outlets, movie theatres and on Variety’s website, funds raised through Variety Gold Heart Pin sales benefit Variety programs that provide life-changing equipment, services and experiences to children who live with special needs or who endure daily life challenges.

Past pins have included TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, Avatar: The Way of Water, Trolls World Tour, Mary Poppins Returns, Star Wars characters, Sherlock Gnomes, Mockingjay, Yogi Bear, Mickey Mouse, E.T., Shrek, Kermit the Frog, Minions, and Spider-Man.
